Mar 01 | Has Jessica Biel joined ‘State of the Union’?
ComingSoon.net has learned that Jessica Biel may be in talks to co-star with Richard Gere in Garry Marshall’s remake of Frank Capra’s 1948 political drama State of the Union about a businessman who must reunite with his estranged wife in order to improve his campaign run for the President of the United States. It would reunite Biel with the director of her recent romantic comedy hit Valentine’s Day. Capra’s film, which originally starred Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn, has been adapted with a new screenplay by Rod Lurie, who has more than a little experience with the subject of political campaigning from his 2000 film The Contender and the television drama Commander in Chief starring Geena Davis. Richard Gere has been attached to play the lead role for some time with Annette Bening’s name having been mentioned to play his wife. As of yet, nothing has been confirmed including whether Marshall will make State of the Union his next project following the hit Valentine’s Day. So far, they also haven’t set up any sort of distribution deal though we can expect that to change once everything else falls into place.
UPDATE: Since we discovered Biel’s name was in the running for a role in the movie, our original source for the information has seemingly back-tracked, and there’s a chance that Marshall might not even be doing the movie and if he’s out, so is Jessica Biel. In fact, Richard Gere may not even be attached to the movie anymore, and they might be starting from scratch. Source: ComingSoon.net
Feb 11 | Marshall serious about ‘Laverne & Shirley’ remake
Pretty Woman director Garry Marshall is taking Jamie Foxx’s advice and pushing forward with a movie remake of his hit TV sitcom Laverne & Shirley with new best pals Jessica Biel and Jennifer Garner in the title roles. The actresses became bosom buddies on the set of Marshall’s new film Valentine’s Day, prompting their co-star to suggest they’d be perfect for a Laverne & Shirley remake. And Marshall admits he’s committed to making the movie, which will feature cameos from his sister Penny and Cindy Williams – the original Laverne & Shirley. He says, “We’re gonna work on that. My sister Penny and Cindy are going to be a guest cameo (sic).” And Garner can’t wait to work with her new best friend: “Are you kidding? We’re dying to do it.”
Nov 16 | Would Biel Join Co-Star Lautner In A ‘Twilight’ Film?
Jessica Biel has now entered the Twilight universe, as she’s co-starring with Taylor Lautner in the new romantic comedy Valentine’s Day, set to hit theaters early next year. So, now that Biel and Lautner have collaborated on the rom-com, could we see the actress set foot in Forks, Washington? She wouldn’t rule it out. “Well, I’m clearly familiar with the films. I haven’t read the books, but I haven’t seen any of the films yet so I’m not that familiar — I know the idea of what it’s about,” she told MTV News. “I mean, maybe [I'd be in the next 'Twilight' film]. That would be lovely. I am not opposed to playing a vampire.” Until then, Twi-hards will have to settle for watching Lautner share the screen with Biel in Valentine’s Day, where Biel’s character, Kara, doesn’t want anything to do with hearts or love or Cupid. “She really despises Valentine’s Day and she always has an I Hate Valentine’s Day Party. And all of her friends usually come and it’s a big blowout and it’s super fun and this year nobody’s RSVP’d and she’s a wreck about it,” she explained. But despite Kara’s plans not working out, she may find a little love after all. “That’s her experience on this particular Valentine’s Day, and how she goes through her day and maybe finds some possible love at the end of the movie,” she teased. “Perhaps at the end there might be a little possibility of something.” Source: MTV News
Oct 26 | Jessica Biel getting “Engaged”
Jessica Biel is attached to star in and produce rookie screenwriter Julia Brownell’s F***ing Engaged, a raunchy comedy about a couple who make a pact to have sex every day leading to their wedding so they don’t turn into their crusty old parents. It’s the first script sale for Brownell. A playwright from the MFA theater program at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, she has written Smart Cookie and Fantasy Baseball for the stage and made the short films Pizza Boy and The Assistant. She also has performed in improv and sketch-comedy groups. Biel most recently starred in Powder Blue, Easy Virtue and I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry. She next appears in David O. Russell’s romantic comedy Nailed and Valentine’s Day, which hits theaters in February.
Oct 20 | Biel Reveals New Details About Her ‘A-Team’ Character
Jessica Biel is gearing up to bring her A-game to The A-Team. The actress said in a recent interview with MTV News that if fans are expecting it to be anything like the TV show, they are in for a surprise. The movie will be much more serious in tone than the classic 80’s action series. “I think it will be a little bit similar here and there but we really have our own tone going on,” she said. “It’s a little bit less campy than the actual show and a little bit more serious action and fighting sequences but still with lots of humor. Lots and lots of humor.” The actress, who will star alongside Bradley Cooper, UFC champ Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, District 9 star Sharlto Copley and Liam Neeson, would be open to seeing one of the original A-Teamers come back and get in on the action. But that’s all still up in the air. “I don’t know about [possible cameos] actually. Up to my knowledge at this point no,” she said, adding that she’d like to see Mr. T play some kind of role. “That would be great. I can’t imagine that people wouldn’t want to see him. When you think of A-Team you think of Mr. T, so that’d be great. I don’t know about it though.” Biel does know a thing or two about her character, Carissa Sosa (it’s worth noting that IMDB lists her character’s name as Amy Allen; perhaps IMDB has it wrong). “She works for the Department of Defense, so she’s sort of after the A-Team throughout the whole movie,” she said. “She had a previous relationship connection with one of the members of the A-Team, but not presently at the moment is their particular love interest.” Thanks to MTV News for this info!
Sep 17 | Biel in talks for the A-Team?
Jessica Biel is in talks to join The A-Team. Biel and actor Sharlto Copley are in final negotiations to join the action movie remake, according to Daily Variety. Sharlto is reportedly lined up to play Howling Mad Murdock in the movie, while Biel is being considered as an ex-love of Templeton ‘Faceman’ Peck, to be played by Bradley Cooper. Liam Neeson will reportedly play A-Team leader John Hannibal Smith in the movie adaptation of the hit 1980s TV series, while mixed martial arts superstar Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson is slated to play Mr. T’s role as B.A. Baracus.
Jul 01 | Biel Reportedly Playing Love Interest In “Thor”?
Jessica Biel is rumored to be on board the cast of Thor as the titular character’s love interest. According to NukeTheFridge.com, the 27-year-old actress will be playing a love interest, although it is still not sure who exactly would she be portraying. It is possible that she is lined up to play Jane Foster, the girlfriend of Thor’s alter ego Donald Blake. However, the website’s source wasn’t sure of the character’s name and only believed that it was the same female character from the animated Hulk vs. Thor. If that is the case, Biel would be playing either Amora the Enchantress or Sif as, the website pointed out, those characters appeared in the said animated. Thor from Marvel Studios will be directed by Kenneth Branagh. Tom Hiddleston will be playing the title character. It will be released in May 2011.
